Pastel Artist Lyn Canham
Lyn Canham is a self-taught artist. After nurturing childhood talents in schools and art museum classes, Lyn pursued a career as a cognitive psychologist, recently re-introducing herself to the arts through classes and workshops, such as with Mike Mahon and Lee McVey. Lyn instills her life-long love of nature into her drawings and paintings, focusing on southwestern landscapes that may have elements of area history. She strives for ‘painterly realism’ in her paintings. When weather permits, she enjoys painting en plein air, painting on-site in the open air of the state’s mesas, canyons, forests, rivers, and mountains. For her, a successful artwork allows viewers to relax into a peaceful recognition of their own rich experiences in nature. Lyn is a member of the Plein Air Painters of New Mexico, the Pastel Society of New Mexico, and the Cloudcroft Art Society. Her paintings have shown in galleries in Albuquerque, Madrid, Tularosa, Alamogordo, and Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Lyn and her husband Tim live east of Cloudcroft, NM.
